As the Coordinator of the Lansing Community College Historically Black College & University (HBCU) Transfer Program, I advise students interested in transferring to a HBCU, serve as the project manager for the HBCU College Fair, take students on an annual HBCU College Tour and lead students at the HBCU Club advisor.

Hi All,
Just a quick note to report on this week’s HBCU College Fair. The Gannon Building was once again abuzz with excitement as 270 plus people came through the StarZone area during the daytime event to attend HBCU College Fair 2014. Another 180 plus people joyfully made their way to the evening event held at Union Missionary Baptist Church. Below is the attendance breakdown for both events:
· Total Attendance: more than 450
· Total Attendance Day: 270 students plus chaperones and other guests
o 10 high school groups of 210 students including the Lansing School District
o 60 plus LCC students
· Total Attendance Evening: 185
o Students 90
o Parents and guests: 95
Eighteen HBCUs participated in the event as well as LCC Recruitment, Advising, K-12 Relations, and the Early College; the Michigan Department of Treasury and the Lansing Black College Tour. It was a wonderful event and opportunity to expose students to HBCU transfer programs and work collectively with our faith based partner, Union Missionary Baptist Church. During the day, students learned how to prepare for college; received a tour of our beautiful campus, and met with HBCU Reps. During the evening, students and parents learned about our faith-based partnership; the history of HBCUs; LCC HBCU transfer programs; and met with HBCU Reps. Attendees also learned from and were inspired by guest Speaker Lamar Wilson, Assistant Principal of Lansing STEM Academy.
Special thanks to Tonjala Eaton and Tiara Wair for leading this effort from Academic Advising and the Recruitment Team and to Tonya Vandermeer and Payal Ravani for leading from the Marketing Team! And, thank you to all of you that worked hard to make this a great event. It was a true partnership and team effort! It was so fun to see everyone working together, enjoying themselves, and see everyone in attendance smiling. Our college reps were impressed, and it was an excellent opportunity to showcase our campus and once again work with Union Missionary.
Thank you again!
Lori, please add this to the President’s report if possible.
